Richmond Golf Club acknowledged by England Golf for encouraging women & girls to take up golf
The England Golf Awards aim to reward those individuals, clubs or counties who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make an outstanding contribution to the game of golf.
This year a new award, Women and Girls Trailblazer was announced as a category to recognise those who have tackled under-representation by providing opportunities for women and girls to take up or continue to enjoy the sport.
Richmond (Yorks) Golf Club has received a certificate in recognition of their nomination for the award.
Barbara Gregory, Past Lady Captain and Member of the Board of Directors is the Women in Golf Champion at Richmond and was delighted to accept the certificate on behalf of the Golf Club.
Barbara said: “Over the past year we have developed a supportive pathway into golf with group lessons with the professional, an academy membership, where activity on the course is supported by a member, followed by membership of the Golf Club.
“This has resulted in 29 ladies taking up golf in the past 12 months, exceeding our expectations. We are delighted that our efforts have been acknowledged by England Golf with presentation of the certificate.
“We look forward to supporting more women and girls in the coming year, with our next free ‘taster day’ taking place on 30th April and anyone wishing to join contact the Club on 01748 823231 or email to secretary@richmondyorksgolfclub.co.uk.”
