Since Richmond (Yorks) Golf Club successfully applied to become a signatory of the R&As Women in Golf Charter, a Club Champion has been appointed. Barbara Gregory, Past Lady Captain and Member of the Board of Directors, was delighted to take on the role.
She said: “There are less than 50 Golf Clubs in England that have achieved this tremendous accolade and we have great plans to encourage more women and girls to come and play golf at Richmond. We are working closely with 2-time European Tour Winner, Graeme Storm through his Golf Academy based here at Richmond Golf Club, to attract significant interest in our Women-in-Golf programme.
“Although the Golf Club is closed during the current lockdown, when it reopens there are some exciting events planned as part of the programme including a taster day, introductory lessons, mentoring and fun golf for beginners with other lady members.
“In addition, there is an extensive social programme scheduled for the coming year including our special celebrations to commemorate the 950th anniversary of Richmond Castle. Keep an eye on our website for further information.”
Graeme Storm added: “It is a great achievement for Richmond Golf Club to sign up to the Women in Golf Charter. We at the Graeme Storm Golf Academy look forward to welcoming girls and ladies of all ages and abilities to Richmond in the near future.”
