Karen Jobling wins Yorkshire Veteran Ladies Golf Championship
Karen Jobling has been crowned champion after winning the 2019 Yorkshire Veteran Ladies Golf Championship.
Jobling came through five rounds and three days of competition at Huddersfield Golf Club between April 30 and May 2 to be crowned YVLGA champion for the second time.
The English international and one-handicapper qualified as third seed after carding a gross score of 77 in the scratch scores qualifying.
In the first round of the knockout matchplay, Jobling secured a 6&4 win over Cleckheaton’s Jackie Barraclough to progress to the last eight.
It was then a 2&1 victory over Wakefield’s Betty Sworowski in the quarter-finals, to set up a semi-final showdown with Ilkley’s Melody Svenson.
Jobling needed an extra hole to overcome Svenson, but was a dominant winner of the final as she recorded a 6&4 victory over Huddersfield member Sandra Paul.
