Karen Jobling and Davina Matthews enjoy regional success
Richmond Golf Club members Karen Jobling and Davina Matthews have been enjoying success in regional competitions in the last week.
Jobling’s run of recent form continued when she won the Strokeplay at the NCVLGA Championship at Rotherham GC on May 21.
Jobling’s score of 77 saw her win the opening day of competition on countback from Durham’s Ruth Lindley, who also scored the same 77 total.
Jobling qualified as top seed in the matchplay for the top 16 qualifiers played on days two and three, but she was out of luck in losing on the final hole of her first round tie with Bet Sworowski.
Matthews, meanwhile, finished runner-up in the England Golf Medal (Women’s North Regional Final) at Prenton Golf Club on Sunday, May 26.
Her nett score of 74 was just one-over par and saw Matthews finish four shots behind winner Lisa Reilly of Westhoughton Golf Club.
She will now play in the National Final at Woodhall Spa Golf Club on Thursday 15 August when the champion handicap golfer of the year will be crowned.
