Golfers of the future star in Golf Sixes at Richmond GC

Budding young golfers have starred in the first-ever Golf Sixes event staged at Richmond Golf Club.

Young members of Richmond GC represented the club in the new initiative from The Golf Foundation with the Golf Sixes event proving hugely successful on Saturday, June 1.

Golf Sixes gives youngsters, who are being coached by Richmond GC professional Dan Hood, the chance to compete against other clubs over six holes.

The Richmond team managed to finish in second place in the second event of the North Yorkshire Golf Sixes League, which also features teams from Stokesley, Cleveland and Bedale golf clubs.

If you have a youngster interested into getting into golf, call Dan on 01748 823231.

It has been a busy time for professional Hood, who has also delivered Tri-Golf sessions to around 500 primary school children at a co-hosted sports festival with Ml Sports & Fitness at Richmond Cricket Club with assistant Lewis Beardsall and several members offering a helping hand at the event.

Ml Sports & Richmond Cricket Club have run the event for the last 10 years, but this was the first time Richmond Golf Club has supported the event and given lessons in golf including pitch and putt, chipping, putting, target golf and crazy golf to test the skills of the schoolchildren.

The event was also attended a Great Britain athlete, badminton’s Jenny Wallwork who has represented these shores in many Commonwealth and Olympic games and reached number 5 in the world.
