I am looking forward to being the Club Captain, working with Jo Young our lady Captain, the board and all of you to have another great year.

We are lucky to have Ivan Rookes and Mary Ann Hide as our Vice-Captains and I am sure they will enjoy their new roles in the club. It will be a great privilege and honour to represent the Club and its members in the forthcoming year.

My Charity will be the club; we will be using any money we raise to make improvement to the club, if you have any suggestions please let me know. With this in mind I have made the parking space (captain’s parking space) just outside the club house my charity parking space and if you are going to use it, please put a couple of pound in the tub on the bar.

As you know a third of the money from nearest the pins goes to the captain’s charity. To encourage more members to participate we are now playing one of them on the shorter par 4s each week. You need to be in it to win it.

The Teesside Union team are always looking for new players, if you have a handicap of 12 or below and you are available on a Wednesday evening from 1600 hours and you would like to play please speak with John Simpson.

We also have a NERGA Team, for players with a handicap of 15.5 and over, they play at weekends and they will also be playing friendly pairs matches with other local club. If you would like to play please speak with Colin Heaney.

We have lots coming up as we approach this festive period, starting with our very popular Quiz Night on the 30th November. Then in December we have the following activities:

31st New Year’s Eve Party (£25pp)

Finally on the 06th January we have the Captains’ Drive In, followed by a shotgun 9 hole competition, after that back into the club house were the first drink is on Jo & I.
