The first thing I would like to do as your new Captain is wish all members a Happy New Year for 2020.

It is with great pride that I accept the role of Captain here at Richmond (Yorks) Golf Club. I will be following in the footsteps of many other past Captain’s who have, over the years, dedicated much time and effort in their role as Captain. I hope that I can live up to the same expectations and standards that have been set by them all, in particular by the 2019 Captain, Martin Dolan.

The Captains Drive In proved to be a very successful day and the weather held out for all playing, I would like to thank all those that participated to witness the official start of the Captains’ Year and congratulate all the winners.

Richmond Golf Club will again be hosting Opens and other events throughout the year, so we will be looking for volunteers to offer their help. The first event is the Winter Open on January 25th. All events can be found on the BRS booking page.

Dan, the Club Professional, and myself will be running a pairs challenge starting in February 2020. There will also be mixed pairs competitions throughout the year. Please check the Captain’s Noticeboard for further details.

The Captain’s parking space auction was won by Chris Lightfoot with a very generous donation of £150. This will go to my chosen charity The North East Autism Society.

I am looking forward to working alongside the Ladies Captain, Barbara Gregory, and aiming to follow out our duties as Captains as best as expected.

I am also looking forward to getting out and playing golf with as many members and new members as possible.
