Dear Members,

We are hearing a lot of speculation about when the course will reopen and members will be allowed to play golf once more. Whilst this is understandable it is not very helpful as it stokes expectation.

We hope you and you families remain safe and well during these extraordinary times and if any of you or your families work in the front line, particularly in the NHS/Social Care, please pass on to them a big “thank you” from all of us.

Bunkered Magazine has run a very interesting article called “Today’s The Day To Save Your Club”, making some very valid points about the situation facing many clubs up and down the country.

We hope you and you families are safe and well during these stressful times and look forward to a time, hopefully not too far away, when we can welcome you back to the course.

Golf Monthly has run an article urging club golfers in this country to do all they can for golf in this time of crisis and help the country’s golf clubs survive.

The Board of RGC has closed the golf course with immediate effect, following the announcement of more stringent measures to limit the spread of COVID-19, made by the Prime Minister on 23rd March 2020.

The following policy changes at Richmond Golf Club are effective immediately.

As I am sure you are all aware, the Prime Minister made some far reaching announcements on Monday afternoon regarding Government advice vis a vis the Coronavirus outbreak.

The Board is aware of people’s concerns about the Coronavirus situation and we are in regular touch with England Golf to be sure we have their latest information and advice.

John Simpson has landed an prestigious position after being appointed as the President of the Teesside Union of Golf Clubs for 2020/21.

Richmond (Yorks) Golf Club is seeking to recruit a PGA Head Professional to take personal responsibility for the professional delivery and development of all aspects of the golf operations and to ensure that member and guest expectations are consistently met or exceeded.

Captain’s Day will now take place on Sunday, 5th July after a change of dates from the published calendar of events.

A total of 68 players played in Winter Open 4 on Saturday, February 29th with Mike Murphy and David Fishburn winning with 41 points.

The Winter Open is still on as the course is open and will be played over 16 holes on Saturday 29th February.

The following choice of food will be available before the February Quiz on Friday, February 28.

The Winter Open planned for Saturday, February 22nd has been postponed until next Saturday (February 29th).

With the course likely to be closed on Sunday due to Storm Dennis, the Golf Studio and clubhouse/bar will be open from 11.00am until 2.00pm tomorrow.
