2020 Captains handover cheques to chosen charities

Richmond (Yorks) Golf Club, like every other Golf Club has had an unusual year in 2020, with the pandemic and associated lockdowns having an impact on activity both on the course and in the Clubhouse.

However our Lady Captain, Barbara Gregory and Gents Captain, Ivan Rookes have been undeterred in fund raising for their chosen charities in 2020, and as they came to the end of their terms in office, were able to handover the funds raised.

Barbara raised £1,222 from members, guests and visitors to RGC for Just the Job, a charity and social enterprise based in Richmond which supports adults with a wide range of abilities, in practical work-orientated therapeutic activities. Ivan added a further £500 to this worthwhile cause from Landmarc Support Services.

Barbara Gregory, immediate past Lady Captain, handed over a cheque of £1222 to one of the Just the Job teams, Lawrence, Emma and Andy Darcy, in aid of their Big Build project.

Ivan’s chosen charity in 2020 was the North East Autism Society and he raised £1,406 from members, guests and visitors to RGC with an additional £500 from Landmarc Support Services. These funds will help with their on-going youth programme.

“I would like to thank all members of Richmond Golf Club for their kind donations and thank Landmarc Support Services for their kind donation of £500,” said Ivan.

“This will help contribute to the ongoing youth programme that is currently running virtually. This will also help continue to provide services and support for families living with autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions. A big thank you to all.”

Both Barbara and Ivan would like to thank everyone for their amazing generosity, helping them to raise a total of £3,628 for these very worthwhile causes.
