Richmond (Yorkshire) Golf Club

Set on the outskirts of the picturesque town of Richmond, North Yorkshire, Richmond Golf Club was formed in 1892. The area is one of natural beauty, access from the A1 at Scotch Corner is only a ten minute drive, and visitors are welcome from far and wide to play the course.

Bend Hagg has been the home of Richmond Golf Club since 1904 when members decided that the farm's rolling fields would provide better playing conditions than the old racecourse nearby. Frank Pennink, a well respected course designer, helped shape and influence the development and progression of the course design.

The original nine holes were played twice until an 18-hole course was opened in 1972, thanks to clever utilisation of the limited land available.
Several tweaks and more significant alterations later, Richmond now offers a unique test of golf in stunning surroundings.
Though not a long course, the close proximity of out of bounds at most of the holes allied to some notoriously tricky greens means that it is never to be taken lightly. Sited high above the historic town and exposed to the elements, it can be especially difficult when the wind blows.
The record low scores at Richmond for both amateur and professional is 63, but they were set before the course became a par 71 in 2004 when the 10th hole was extended from a par 4 to a par 5.
